The BCHV Paint n Ride is a truly unique retreat – imagine riding all morning through the wild pine forests of the Cascade Mountains. Then settle down for a leisurely lunch and spend your afternoons free-painting in plein air sessions designed to relax and inspire.
This painting retreat has been created with the horse loving artist in mind. After riding away each morning on cheerful, forward moving horses, pull out your brushes in the vast landscape; the afternoon stretches before you and there’s all the time in the world paint.
On a Paint n Ride, you will find a balanced mixture of painting out at plein air sites or on the comfortable decks and patios of your superb, nature inspired accommodations. This retreat offers the best in horseback riding complimented by the most creative places to work.
On paint in days, after your morning ride, head back to the Jellicoe Station Inn, a unique, isolated mountain B&B with enormous wilderness views. Dine out on the patios and take to your easel for the remainder of the day. You’ll find many choices in decks, patios and outdoor areas on the 39 acres, truly an idyllic setting to indulge your creativity.
On paint out days, ride along convoluted mountain trails to carefully selected locations; a delicious picnic will be served to feed your imagination. Spend your afternoon painting at the edge of a mountain or lake, with inspiring views and horses tethered peacefully nearby.
And each day you’ll find hearty meals await, there are comfortable rooms, hot tubs to soak in and for extra indulgence, professional masseuse and day spa services available to soothe and pamper.
Please bring your favorite mediums as well as any supplies you would normally carry on a plein air expedition. We strongly suggest bringing a “mini kit” of lightweight and space efficient materials that will fit neatly into saddlebags for the “paint out” days. Oils are not recommended due to transportation and clean up challenges.
Please note: Participants should feel experienced enough as riders to be comfortable controlling a lively horse in varied terrain. All horse loving artists, whether beginner or professional, welcome!

Itinerary These rides are so much fun – when you immerse yourself into the world of horses and painting, time just disappears! Day 1: Your horse is your transportation – the morning ride takes you from the BCHV facility up and over Bear Hill to ride into the Jellicoe Station Inn. Your luggage & painting materials will be transported by vehicle. Paint in day. Day 2: Paint out day at Osprey Lake. Day 3: Paint in day at Jellicoe Station. Day 4: Paint out day at the Pinnacle Viewpoint. Day 5: Morning ride takes you back to the BCHV facility to end your retreat with lunch in the garden gazebo. Your luggage & painting materials will be delivered before you arrive.

Prices: 5 day/4 night (riding all 5 days) Paint n Ride: all meals, accommodations, non-alcoholic beverages, horses, tack & guide included.
Main House Prices: $1645 CDN + (5%) GST based on double occupancy, single occupancy: additional $150.
Cabin Prices: $1595 CDN + (5%) GST based on single occupancy.
A deposit of 50% is required to assure your place in the ride.
