BC Horse Vacations caters their rides for small groups of 1 to 6 people, in order to offer the most personal service possible. These smaller groups are delightful for the guests, but as importantly, they help our equine business partners maintain a fresh and willing attitude. Each horse is hand picked for cooperative attitude and ability. They are energetic, nicely trained and well suited for their work in the mountains. The horses you ride will be carefully selected with your experience level and preferences in mind.
An amazing group of horses have found their way into our little herd. We have registered Quarterhorses, Paint, Morgan, Percheron & American Curly, and then there are the fabulous cross-breds, all with great work ethics, sure footed, cheerful and willing partners in your ride.

About horses...
At BCHV we look at horses as our business partners, and our herd is here to stay. We like to say, “The horses always get paid first.” as without them, we’d be out of business. This means they’re well fed, shod, rested, groomed, vetted, supplemented and loved. We encourage our guests to develop a soft feel for the horses they’re riding, and to use subtle aides. Many guests have come away commenting on their improved seat and communication skills, just from the great fun of riding a good horse in mountain terrain.
If desired, we can offer on the trail (or arena) coaching from the guide who spends hundreds of hours each season in the saddle, and knows each individual horse implicitly. For those who wish to further strengthen their horsemanship skills, there is the opportunity to learn about horses on a deeper level. There is far more to horses than just riding – understanding their body language, how our own body language affects them, our personal attitudes, beliefs and energy on any given day can deeply effect interactions with horses. For those who find this way of being with horses interesting, it may be a relief to find a horseback riding business congruent with their own understanding of horses as intelligent and sentient creatures.
